The catalyst exhibits excellent catalytic activity and stability in the Suzuki cross-coupling reaction. Various aryl bromides were coupled with aryl boronic acids in water, under air, and in the presence of 0.5 mol % of the catalyst to afford corresponding cross-coupled products
in high yields at 100 degrees C. Furthermore, the heterogeneous catalyst can be readily recovered by simple filtration and reused for several times only with a slight decrease in its activity. (C) 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 121: 286-291, 2011″
“Diabetic mellitus (DM) has many well-known complications. However, there is one rare complication, diabetic muscle infarction (DMI), which is usually under diagnosed. Hereby, we present a 53-year-old Chinese man with a history of DM, hypertension and atrial fibrillation. He had acute onset of severe left lower HM781-36B in vitro leg pain and swelling with difficulty
in walking 4 days before admission. Physical examination revealed non-pitting and non-erythematous swelling with cold sensation of the left medial calf muscles. Magnetic resonance image (MRI) showed homogenous high signal changes in the calf muscles on T2 images, which indicated DMI. After anticoagulation treatment, GSK1838705A manufacturer the patient had a fair recovery within 4 weeks and he could walk by himself thereafter. DMI is a rare complication of poorly controlled DM. It does have a characteristic clinical presentation and MRI findings. Increased clinical awareness is important for early recognition and correct treatment.”
“Recent studies reveal that salivary cortisol measurements accurately reflect blood cortisol levels in older children and adults; yet, the relationship between the two values in premature infants has not been established. This study explores the use of salivary cortisol as an accurate measure of adrenal steroid concentrations in premature infants to provide see more a reliable
and less invasive tool for investigating hormonal stress response. Premature infants (n = 51) were recruited, with saliva and blood collected immediately after birth, and cortisol levels measured by radioimmunoassay. A linear relationship emerged between cord plasma and salivary cortisol values in the 102 paired samples [(salivary cortisol) = 0.546 + 0.192 x (plasma cortisol), r = 0.481 and p = 0.0003]. Findings demonstrated that salivary and plasma cortisol levels were correlated in premature infants. This information will be useful in future studies that assess use of salivary cortisol to evaluate neonatal stress axis function.”
“The biodegradability, morphology, and mechanical properties of composite materials made of poly( butylene succinate adipate) (PBSA) and sugarcane bagasse (SCB) were evaluated. Composites containing maleic anhydride (MA)-grafted PBSA (PBSA-g-MA/SCB) exhibited noticeably superior mechanical properties because of greater compatibility between the two components.
